Contest 50: Loess Plateau, an Emperor Beauty Contest

Welcome to our Emperor contest, Loess Plateau. You must have the latest patch in order to play this contest. The link to the patch is on our rules page. Use the links below to download the starting positions:

After downloading, simply run the Zip extractor and follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, choose to extract the files to the directory in which Emperor.exe is located (by default C:\Sierra\EmperorROTMK\).

Competitors are reminded that the normal CBC General Rules apply to this contest.

Please make sure you play the game from the start at the correct level of difficulty. You can select the difficulty from the game loading screen.

Story

The Loess Plateau takes its name from the term for the thick deposits of windblown soil that originates thousands of miles away on the steppes of Central Asia.

Though Loess, which has been eroding into the rivers and streams of the region for thousands of years, gives the Huang He its characteristic yellow colour.

Much of this land was opened up for agriculture and timber harvesting during the Han Dynasty.

Your task is to produce the most beautiful city in the world, raised on the plateau it will be seen for miles around and should reflect the power of the gods on earth. Build monuments and palaces to appease the gods and your task will be fulfilled.

Rules

Completion criteria:

• Build a Grand Temple Complex
• Build a Large Palace
• Build a Clocktower
• Build a Grand Pagoda
• Palace contains 8 menagerie animals

Winning Criteria: Most beautiful city as judged by CBC staff.

Designer's Notes

The goal for a population of 9999999 is set to prevent the victory screen coming up and should be ignored.

There is no set date for saving this contest but a price rise for Jade will remind you to save each January, Jade serves no other purpose in this contest.

Easy map players will get a higher starting fund and find the trading cities more friendly.
